I met Debra 3 years ago. My 4 children had graduated from college & we knew it was time to give a facelift to our 1970's Dutch colonial house! From the moment Debra walked in our front door, I knew I was in good hands. I had no idea how to start this overwhelming project!She was so positive about the potential and really guided me through questions that would transform our rooms into a comfortable living space designed for us. It is an added plus that she is so cheerful & friendly to work with.

Patience is a virtue when you take on this kind of project. We had to strip the old discolored wallpaper in 2 rooms and our hallway & stairs. We had to rip up the 1970's carpet, but were fortunate to have oak flooring underneath! The floors were refinished and the walls were stripped by reliable contractors Deb knows and trusts. Deb helped me pick out wall paint that truly reflects my taste; earth tones & subtle pastels. She brought all the paint samples to my house and we were able to choose colors for the rooms and hallway in one day! It really helped to coordinate the colors in each room from the comfort of my own home.

We talked about window treatments, rug colors, and furniture. It was like having a friend who could make my wishes come true. She brought fabric samples and we picked out window treatments. Deb took me on a shopping "spree" to rug stores & furniture stores. Again these were stores where she knows that the quality and prices are honest values.

My rugs are awesome. The window treatments are modern and compliment my rugs. I love the Hunter Douglas blinds. They're easy to use and help insulate the windows. I would never have picked out some of the furniture pieces she encouraged me to look at, but trusting her eye for decorating, I walked out of my comfort zone and now I am dazzled everyday by the colors and warmth my rooms provide to me and my family.

Debra was back this year to help me redecorate the livingroom & familyroom. We worked hard to get it done by Christmas. She even decorated my mantle for the holidays! Again, it all looks incredible.

I highly recommend the Practical Decorator for the exceptional work she does. I have confidence in her talents and vision. She has become more than a decorator to me. I would never have this beautiful, updated home without her. Thanks Deb!
